Executive Report

Good evening everyone!

Couple of really exciting things to share with you during this board meeting! We’ve had a ton of new users visit us, a ton of concurrent live streams, a huge amount of community development, and exciting new feature releases! In addition we’re getting ready to do something… pretty big!

Before we begin, I want to call out that I am behind on at least 43 things at any given time. Including the Glimesh Shared Ownership idea, about a billion pull requests, and 22 RTMP bugs. Thank you all for your patience with me personally. It also continually amazes me how much you all get done without me, so I hope we can continue to make more of our contributions completely independent of me!

We now have RTMP fully available for testing! It’s not completely bug free, but is ready for general usage. It also works great with restreaming platforms like Aircast, Restream, and others. We especially need help testing RTMP in poor network conditions, like over wifi, or with cables that have been chewed by pets. In the coming week we’ll get RTMP established and submitted to OBS for adding into the services list.

We’ll also be performing major maintenance on our web servers this Saturday at 7AM EDT until 10AM EDT. You can expect actual downtime to only be from 7-8AM, but we may have lingering issues until about 10AM. This maintenance will be to move our database & webservers off of DigitalOcean and onto a provider more suited for our web application.

Finally, we’re getting ready for a big marketing push next week. We’ve matured a lot since we first launched our alpha, and our goal is going to be to inform all of our newsletter subscribers (10k+) about these features and how they can get the most out of Glimesh. Especially with the release of RTMP we feel it’s a good time to get the word out. We’ll be starting the email blast at about noon on Wednesday October 12th and a marketing push around the same time. This should bring in some good traffic to the website, so if you’ve been waiting to stream it would be a good chance to meet some new people! We’re also temporarily removing the 2 week notice & 30 day recency limit for events, so if you are hosting some kind of event, charity stream, tournaments, etc, please let us know via the event form!

Metrics

Currently our marketing metrics are still rather basic. We still need to update our metrics to track things we want to grow, so we can measure how campaigns are doing.

As always, Plausible cannot properly track our Bounce Rate & Visit Duration since our web framework does not send updates as the user changes pages. These metrics should be used as a comparable baseline, not a way of telling how many watch hours, or other common metrics, we have.

Glimesh News

Feature #861 - Add PNG support for Emotes 4

Though our existing emotes system is superior because it’s based on a vector graphics format (which means its easily scalable), having only SVG emotes makes it very difficult for others to add their existing emotes to Glimesh. Due to this, we’ve decided to add support for PNG emotes (with SVGs making a comeback in the near future), and raising our emote limit to 10 emotes! Check it out now on your emotes page.

Feature #862 - Allow turning off receiving gift subscriptions

You can now disable the ability for you to get gift subs given to you as a viewer of another channel. By default we’ve left the ability to get gift subs on, but you can change that on your preferences page.

Feature #852 - Add title mutations to the API

We’ve added modifying the stream title to the Glimesh API, so now bot authors and other 3rd parties can add native support for that.
