Executive Report

Good evening everyone!

One of the major thoughts in my head this past month has been around the concept of bringing more people into owning a piece of Glimesh. Since the beginning we’ve been built by the community, for the community, yet those who have helped build the platform have no ownership of it, and no concrete say in what happens with it. Originally when I started Glimesh, I wanted it to be a site for us, owned by us, without having to worry about it slipping away under your feet. Now it’s time to start making moves in that direction. Last week we had our first discussion around bringing additional owners of Glimesh into the mix. At the moment the idea is still very raw, confusing, and new, but I want your help in forming the complete idea of what owning Glimesh could look like.

Your help is needed on our Building Glimesh form in the new “Glimesh Ownership Expansion” category. You can find some brief notes, our first meeting recording, and ongoing conversations at Glimesh Ownership Expansion

Besides that, I have only a few updates. From the marketing co-founder perspective we had several great candidates a couple of months ago, but communication with them has fallen behind, and I’m second guessing our approach with this. I would like to flush out the ownership expansion idea a bit, and get more heads thinking about the best approach for growing Glimesh instead of throwing our eggs into a single basket. So as of now, our search for a marketing co-founder is on pause, and we’ve decided not to select a candidate at this time.

We’ve also made some changes to the Glimesh Community Team to adjust for our current size and to help build out what the future of the team could look like. Paco1342 will cover that later on.

Metrics

Currently our marketing metrics are still rather basic. We still need to update our metrics to track things we want to grow, so we can measure how campaigns are doing.

As always, Plausible cannot properly track our Bounce Rate & Visit Duration since our web framework does not send updates as the user changes pages. These metrics should be used as a comparable baseline, not a way of telling how many watch hours, or other common metrics, we have.

Glimesh News

Upcoming changes to the Glimesh Community! Basically we are putting the team into two roles - Core Team (which is the background side) and Community Champions (which are the community side). Both of these roles are still considered GCT; this is a move to help us provide more focused and consistent support with people in dedicated roles instead of a “everybody does everything” situation. Coming up soon, you will see new role names and colors in your Glimesh chats for Core Team and Community Champions, as well as in the discord. It will be the same people you’ve gotten to know doing the same work, just more effectively!

In related news, artofcod will be moving from the Community Champion team to the Events team! He will help organize community events, and will serve as an internal contact point (and artist!) for GCT hosted community events and other internal events!
